Ad for Beth Lindsey Interior Design as seen in Houston Design Resource Magazine.

Had a great time photographing a client’s home for interior designer Beth Lindsey.  So glad she used a few of the shots in her current ad in HDR.  Beth’s ad was designed by Greg Valdez.  Thanks Beth!  We both loved working with you!

Found For The Home 7.5.14

Fun shoot once again with Ruth Davis and Aaron Rambo from Found For The Home.  Some of my favorite new items in the shop are beautiful pieces of blown glass from France in beautiful jewel tones, elegant pottery from Italy and petrified stump side tables.

The Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan – A maestro of pooches, a humanitarian with heart.

The Art of Art.  Behind the scenes Portraits and Profiles. #1

As serious as he is about communication between man and his dog, Cesar is as wacky in front of the camera. I’d say, a kid at heart. His passion for his gift as a teacher is evident the moment he and his companion “Junior,” walk in the door. Ask him to pose for a pic and his childlike nature comes to life.

I found Cesar refreshing, quirky, shy and devoted to his calling. His spirit seems sure of the canine species and a bit baffled by human nature. He is an inspiration to those of us who dabble in the arts as he walks the path of what he knows to be true in his heart. He truly listens to the muses.

Prior to a fundraising luncheon, benefiting Cristo Rey Jesuit School and featuring Cesar, a private dinner was hosted by Lisa and Joe Turano, with decor and flowers by Todd Events and catering by Tony’s.  The evening provided the opportunity for VIP donors and their dogs to support Cristo Rey College Prep School, founded by the visionary Jesuit Father TJ Martinez, while mingling with Mr. Millan and Junior. From their interaction at the event, it was obvious to me that Father Martinez and Cesar are clearly kindred spirits. Two humanitarians who bonded immediately upon meeting.

The special occasion called for portraits of people and their pooches and I was honored to contribute my passion for photography to the cause.  Being a bit of a ham myself, Cesar and I switched roles for a quick photo op. The photographer became the whisperer and the whisperer the photographer. Acting paparazzi was second nature to my new friend – but no worries, role reversal was short lived after the last shot was taken by friend and fellow photographer Chris Bailey. (note the confusion on Junior’s face when Cesar grabbed my camera-LOL).

Thanks to Bee Dickson at Cristo Rey and her tireless efforts along with the support of Executive Director Jillian Dunn, and The Cesar Millan Foundation, the “Who Let The Dogs Out” luncheon raised more than $60,000.
I encourage you to discover more about both organizations and support them if you can. The Cesar Millan Foundation   Cristo Rey Jesuit School

New Years 2014 in Apalachin, NY 13732

I love getting to visit my in-laws Joan and John, especially in the winter as I love snow. They live in the town of Apalachin, NY, population 1,131.  In Lenape, Apalachin means “From where the messenger returned.” It is on the the Susquehann River. The statistics imply all that is refreshing about this 1.5 square mile town.  The vintage charm of the places we drive by and the places we stop, remind me of road trips when I was growing up in St. Louis. Fun quirky diners and signage, and then beautiful lakes, barns and homes. And then there’s, my dad in-law and husband…two characters in a pod. Those two are always good for a laugh and a scratch of curiosity on the head. This time our day drive was to Seneca Lake located in Valois, NY, the photos hopefully give you a birds eye view of our day.  Click on photos to see the slideshow.

Happy 2014

Bo’s Place Exhibit at Williams Tower Open to Public until Thanksgiving M-F 8am-6pm

Founded in 1990, Bo’s place is a nonprofit bereavement center offering grief support services for children, families and adults. Programs, provided free of charge are available in English and Spanish, are based on the belief that sharing experiences with others in grief helps individuals navigate the grief journey and move towards hope and healing.

Teaming up with Bo’s place – We’ve helped create an eye opening exhibit featured the entire month of November 2013 at the Williams Tower lobby in the galleria. This Exhibit features several families that with the help of Bo’s place, have overcome the loss of a loved one.

My husband and I traveled with friends to South Africa in June.  We stayed in Madikwe Game Reserve at Leopard Rock Lodge.  The game viewing and hospitality were amazing.  The trip was fantastic and Jon and I renewed our wedding vows at the top of a beautiful vista.  (big believer in finding romance whenever possible…5.5 years….) Rory Johnston planned our adventure…my 5th trip to Africa planned by Rory, Jon’s 1st….both Jon and Rory are keepers!!! Touch base with Rory if you are even beginning to consider an African Safari (http://www.family-safari-adventures.com)
